Stephen Collins Foster (1826–1864) was America's first great songwriter. His melodies are so much a part of our history and culture that most people think they’re folk tunes. Many assume he was from the South, but he grew up in Pennsylvania and lived in New York City. His tragically short life was riddled with alcoholism, marital estrangement, and financial destitution.
Join us as we share the story and timeless songs of Stephen Foster. |
