The Conservatory's resident string ensemble, Philomusica String Quartet, continues to grow a loyal audience and win the praise of critics as they bring to the stage inimitable style and artistic precision.
For the 2011-12 season, the quartet performs works by the masters Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schubert, and Bach, as well as the moderns Foote, Shostakovich and Szymanowski. And, like well-crafted bookends to a classic set of great literature, Philomusica opens and closes the series with two special guest artists: Mathieu Dufour, principal flutist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, on November 21, 2011, and double bassist Roger Ruggeri of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra on May 21, 2012.
All concerts are held in the Helen Bader Recital Hall at 1584 North Prospect Avenue unless otherwise noted.
Jeanyi Kim: violin | Alexander “Sascha” Mandl: violin
Nathan Hackett*: viola | Adrien Zitoun: cello
* Ms. Erin Higuchi Pipal will be sitting in for Mr. Nathan Hackett, who is on leave of absence for the remainder of the season.
