Pre-School & Children's Classes (K4-9)

Whether children are transitioning from early childhood classes or joining the Conservatory of Music for the first time, these classes provide a solid musical foundation before beginning Individual Instruction. In small group classes, children are encouraged to expand their musical horizons by discovering, experiencing, analyzing, and creating music in a relaxed and fun learning environment. Children learn to sing or play an instrument as well as basic music and rhythm concepts through games and creative activities. Parents are not required in these classes.

Singing Exploration \| $149
Grades 1–3 Sing your way through this theme-based class! Each week children will explore the components that go into writing a song while learning beginning vocal technique. Students will have fun with improvisation and acting games, lyric writing, melody creation, and exploring notation. This semester focuses on "Exploring The Ocean." SUZUKI CLASSES

The Conservatory's Suzuki program includes both weekly individual instruction as well as group classes. Your child will take 15 weeks of individual instruction at one of the Prospect, Wilson Center or Audubon Court branches. Group classes meet for 10 weeks (40 or 55 minutes classes) at all branches, culminating in a concert as the last class. The Suzuki program also includes studio and department recitals, and once a semester parent-teacher conferences. The Suzuki philosophy calls for active parental participation in the child’s lessons and classes, and in their daily practice. Individual lessons (30-min lessons for Book 1 and 2, 45-min lessons for Book 3 -5) will be scheduled with instructor.

Entering Grades 4-8 Here is an opportunity to explore the world of violin and viola in a supportive group setting. Beginner students will learn the basics of technique, music reading, and simple tunes in the classic and folk tradition. Violins and violas are available for rent at local music stores.
