- Faculty trained in both music and early childhood development
- Age appropriate and age specific instruction
- Small group instruction (3-9)students in a class

- Parent letters handed out weekly. These letters outline the concepts, activities, and songs that are presented at each class, suggest activities to do at home, and give a brief description of what their child experienced and how it is a part of their development
- The Early Childhood curriculum has been developed specifically for the Conservatory of Music
- Curriculum moves children through a logical sequence of musical concepts and skills
- Children are introduced to basic musical concepts designed to help develop motor, listening, and sequencing skills
- Activities such as: singing, listening, playing rhythm instruments and moving to music
- Explores concepts such as high/low, fast/slow, soft/loud, start/stop, and keeping a steady beat
- Children learn to take turns, share and concentrate
- New musical concepts and songs introduced each semester at every level that build on concepts from previous classes
- The Dorothea Music Library with over 50,000 CDs and LPs, DVD scores and books
- Free admission for students and one parent or caregiver to all Conservatory produced performances and family concerts

Children are encouraged to advance through the Early Childhood program but may also join the Conservatory in the appropriate age level class at any time as a new student.

- Conservatory Kids (3-4 ½ years of age)
- Conservatory Families (1-5 years of age)
