Early Childhood Classes

Winter Jamboree

Children will enjoy this interactive and hands on class as they explore the world of musical instruments. We will discover the different musical styles and sounds made by specific instruments. Children will sing, listen and dance to recordings, enjoy a story time, take turns playing the instruments and make their own instruments to take home. Each week will focus on a different instrument. Instruments included in this year’s jamboree are violin, guitar, drums and recorder.
A parent or caregiver attends with child and joins in the fun as a role model. 4 wks.

Spring 2010

In an age appropriate, supportive and enjoyable environment the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music offers early childhood music classes for ages 4 months-5 years old. Your child will have fun learning basic musical concepts through singing, listening, playing rhythm instruments and moving to music. Children will also develop motor and sequencing skills in addition to learning how to take turns, share, and concentrate as they acquire an appreciation for music. Our curriculum and weekly lessons are written specifically for your child’s age group. Concepts such as high/low, fast/slow, soft/loud, start/stop and keeping a steady beat are appropriately introduced for each age, are sequential in development and reinforced throughout the course of study. Each age group has its own curriculum and lesson plans to promote your child’s continued interest and musical progress. A parent or caregiver attends with their child and joins in the fun as a role model.

As a reminder to parents/caregivers: Only registered students are allowed in our early childhood classes. Please make arrangements for siblings or join one of our Families classes.

Conservatory Babies $96

Learn new concepts and songs each semester! Research indicates that providing a rich variety of experiences during the first year of life promotes strong brain development. Our Conservatory Babies class will give your baby a unique musical experience as you learn songs, rhymes, finger plays, bounces, wiggles and lullabies that you can recreate at home. Together we can help lay the foundation for your child to enjoy a life-long love of music. Ages 4-11 months. Baby must be 4 months old by March 1, 2010. 12 wks. No classes April 5-10.

Conservatory Tots $96

In a class designed specifically for this age group your child will develop motor skills and an aural awareness as he/she participates in singing, learning rhymes and finger plays, creative movement, listening, instrument exploration and playing percussion instruments. Conservatory Tots will help parents learn about music development in toddlers in addition to providing a fun bonding time with their child. Ages 1 or 2 years. 12 wks. No classes April 5- 10.

Our integrated approach allows your child to experience and learn basic musical concepts and develop tonal and rhythm skills through music, literature and art. Each child is encouraged to participate at his/her own level in singing, movement, listening and instrument exploration. Your child will enjoy and benefit from interaction with you as well as with children in the class. Ages 3-4½ years.
Child must be 3 years old by March 1, 2010. 12 wks. No classes April 5-10.

Conservatory Families

$146 1st child $85 each additional child

Learn new concepts and songs each semester! Designed to accommodate families with multiple children in a family-style learning setting, our Conservatory Families classes welcome children 4 months to 5 years old. Grouping children of a range of ages helps foster natural learning as the younger children enjoy watching and imitating the older ones and the older children learn by leading the younger ones. Activities are specially designed to offer early exposure to music as well as challenge the budding musician. This class is also open to families with one child. Ages 4 months-5 years. Children must be 4 months old by March 1, 2010. 12 wks. No classes April 5-10.
