Beginning Guitar $244

This course is designed for the student who wishes to learn basic technical and musical skills before pursuing a specific style of music. Topics include: technical work for the hands, reading standard music notation, chord comprehension, basic strum patterns, and ensemble skills. Get your guitar experience off to a great start and establish good practice habits. Students are required to have a nylon or steel-string guitar for use during the class and for home practice. 15 wks.

Intermediate Guitar $244

This course is for students who have either taken Beginning Guitar, or for guitarists who can read music in first position but would like to continue to progress. Topics include: reading in first position, reading outside of first position, movable chords and 7th chords, ensemble playing, and solo guitar skills. This class is a great way to build upon your guitar experience in a group environment. Students are required to have either a nylon or steel-string acoustic guitar for use during the class and for home practice. 15 wks.

Guitar Songbook $244

New Class! Learn and keep your chord forms under your fingers by playing classic and contemporary songs with other like minded guitarists. Also develop and solidify your strum patterns and variations. Students do not need to know how to read music but must have a basic knowledge of chords. Chart reading will also be introduced. 15 wks.

Develop your fingerstyle technique! Learn basic right-hand picking patterns as well as traditional and modern solo pieces. Music Theory for Guitarists 2 $244

This course is a continuation of Level I. Level II continues with a discussion of such topics as extended harmonies, non-harmonic tones, cadences, modes, harmonics, transcriptions from guitar tablatures, harmonic analysis and musical forms. Predecessors of the Guitar $60

Quick Class! Discover the roots of the Guitar! This class will survey the music and study the tablatures of the lute, vihuela, and baroque guitar. Recently built instruments based on historic designs will be used along with recordings to demonstrate how the music actually sounded. Students will have an opportunity to play from the various tablatures on their own instruments. 6 wks.
