This musicianship class is for singers who cannot read music. Especially designed for someone who has always been singing “by ear,” this class will introduce you to the basics of note reading, scales and key signatures. You must be able to match pitch to participate. 10 wks.

We will review healthy singing practices then sing a bunch of standards as well as more recent favorites. You do not need to know how to read music, but should be able to sing on pitch. Sing with professional piano and bass accompaniment and learn the basic musical concepts needed to perform with fellow jazz musicians. This class will provide students with an understanding of form, keys, tempos, charts, set lists, and stage etiquette. One session will be at a local jazz club.
