The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music offers early childhood music classes to children 4 months – 5 years old in an age-appropriate, supportive and enjoyable environment. In Conservatory music classes children have fun singing, listening, playing rhythm instruments and moving to music. Children develop motor, listening and sequencing skills, as well as learn to take turns, share, concentrate and develop an appreciation for music.
Whether children are transitioning from early childhood classes or joining the Conservatory of Music for the first time, these classes provide a solid musical foundation before beginning individual instruction. In small group classes children are encouraged to expand their musical horizons by discovering, experiencing, analyzing and creating music in a relaxed and fun learning environment. Children learn to sing or play an instrument as well as learn basic music and rhythm concepts through games and creative activities.
The Conservatory offers a wide assortment of classes on different instruments as well as musical styles. In small group settings, Conservatory classes offer you the opportunity to introduce yourself to a new style of music or expand your present skills beyond the parameters of individual instruction. Whether you want to learn Afro-Caribbean hand drumming, sing American popular songs, learn music theory or jazz piano, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music has a class for you.
The Conservatory offers several concert-themed mini-courses each semester! Each class explores a particular concert, composer or era which is being presented by Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Florentine Opera, or the Conservatory. These classes meet for 1- 3 weeks and include a ticket to a concert or production. Conservatory Quick Classes give students that opportunity to explore and learn about a wide variety of musical styles in classes that run from 1 to 6 weeks.
Experience the joy of making music with others when you join one of our combos or ensembles. Since each member plays his/her own part, ensembles simultaneously foster teamwork and independence. Ensemble members improve their rhythm and listening skills while having fun playing with other musicians. There are a wide variety of ensembles in different musical styles to choose from at the Conservatory. Students find that being a part of a combo or ensemble is a great way to enhance their musicianship and meet new friends.
During the summer of 2010 the Conservatory offers serveral different camps and camp add-on sessions for children, and the Guitar Weekend Camp for experienced teens and adults. Conservatory Camps fill up fast, so be sure to register early!
