Wisconsin Conservatory of Music
HOW TO ENROLL
How do I sign up for lessons?
The Registration office staff keeps information on faculty schedules, locations at which they teach, tuition rates, styles, and prerequisites. We will ask you some questions about your musical background (Have you studied before? Do you read music?) and about your schedule, length and number of lessons, preference for a location and other factors. Based on this information we will match students with teachers and send a bill for the tuition and fees. Once we receive payment for the lessons, we notify the teacher that they have a new student, and ask them to begin teaching. If you've taken lessons in the previous term, we'll send you an invoice for the upcoming term. We do this about a month before each new semester is due to begin.
What if I can't find a time with an instructor?
The Conservatory has more than 80 faculty members--so we have great flexibility in finding someone to accommodate your schedule. In the event that we can't, we'll make a complete refund
of your tuition and fees. See the page on Student Policies and Procedures for complete information.
What if I want to take a class?
Registering for classes is a simple process. Class schedules are published in the main catalog,
and updates before the Spring and Summer terms; an online class listing is also available.
Students wanting to take a class can enroll over the phone by calling the Student Services at
414-276-5760, or stopping in at our Prospect Avenue location Mondays through Thurdays,
9AM to 9 PM or Fridays and Saturdays 9AM to 5PM. A .pdf class registration form
can be accessed here to be mailed or faxed in.
Once a payment is received, the student is added to the class list. We ask that class registrations be completed a week before the course is due to begin. This allows the teacher some time to gather materials, and helps the Conservatory staff prepare enough space to hold the class. Also remember that there are limits to course enrollment, and the only way to guarantee a place in a class is to pay tuition and fees early!
Cancellation Policy
The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrollment. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment 24 hours before the first class may be canceled. In the event a class is canceled, you will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another class. If you do not enroll in another class, you will receive a full refund.
