Dear Friend,

At just eight years old, A’kiyra already has big dreams for her future.

A’kiyra Robinson is in 2nd grade at Malaika Early Learning Center. She has been in music classes provided by the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music since she was just two years old. Her passion and energy for music is infectious. Each day she rushes home to practice singing with her guitar. She dreams of taking private lessons some day. The highlight of her school day is getting to sing folk songs with her music teacher Ms. Elise, learn about new instruments, and express her creativity in music class with her friends.

Through Conservatory Connections, our community music education program, we inspire thousands of students just like A’kiyra each year with in-depth, weekly music education. For over 10 years, the Conservatory has partnered with Malaika to help nurture and grow their students. Together we are impacting the lives of these students, who otherwise would not have access to quality early childhood music education.

Akiyra-and-Elise-color-correctedElise Pennington, Conservatory faculty and chair of the General Music department, works with 145 infant through 2nd grade students at Malaika each week. Students learn from curriculum-based instruction designed by our own faculty, helping build essential life skills. Students engage in lessons that support group coordination, active listening, confidence, and creativity, inspiring students to be lifelong learners of music. Through the dedication of our faculty and the generosity of your support, we are helping A’kiyra and thousands more students on their journey to achieve their dreams.

Because of your support, over 10,500 students at 71 different schools, early childhood centers, community organizations, and senior living facilities receive high quality music education. Over 70% of the students we impact is through Connections, serving primarily minority, low-income, and at-risk populations. Your help is essential to making music education available to students of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels throughout our community.

Will you consider a gift to help the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music provide music education to students like A’kiyra? Your gift will make a real difference in the lives of thousands of children. Thank you for considering a gift to help make dreams come true.

Sincerely,

EricTillich
