Wisconsin Conservatory of Music

The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music is the largest non-profit community music school in the state. Founded in 1899, the Conservatory provides musical experiences to students from age four months through senior citizen, to all levels of abilities, working to develop creative, artistic, and whole individuals.

The Conservatory annually reaches over 16,000 individuals across southeast Wisconsin through individual lessons, classes, festivals, camps, concerts, fundraising events, and our community music education program Conservatory Connections.

Benefits available to all employees

fellowship in teaching artistry

We are pleased to announce the inaugural Wisconsin Conservatory of Music Fellowship in Teaching Artistry. Intended for early-career Black and Latine artists in classical music, fellows commit to working for a period of one year at WCM, with an option for renewal in the second year.

The aims of the Fellowship in Teaching Artistry are:

  • to provide high-impact opportunities to teach and perform, particularly throughout underserved areas of Milwaukee and its historically excluded/marginalized communities

  • to provide career mentorship and guidance from teaching artists building a career for themselves that includes both teaching and performing.

develoment manager

The Development Manager is responsible for overseeing development operations, executing stewardship initiatives, and serving as the administrator for the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music’s Board of Director and volunteer committee activities. This position reports to the Director of Development and works closely with the Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and a growing development team.

Development manager responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Operations

    • Oversees all prospect research, including creating donor and prospective donor profiles using wealth screening software and other tools.
    • Works closely with the Director of Development to extrapolate and analyze data as it relates to annual funding, events, and special campaigns.
    • Serves as the primary CRM manager and ensures data integrity.

    Stewardship

    • Acknowledges all donations in writing within the Conservatory’s protocols and best practices.
    • Assists with donor event coordination as needed, accepts RSVPs, and drafts event-related communications.
    • Serves as concierge for donors and prospective donors and answers all initial inquiries and communications in a timely fashion.
    • Works with Marketing colleagues to implement the Development communication plan for digital and mailed communications.

    Board and Volunteer Relations

    • Coordinates all aspects of Board meetings, including managing logistics of offsite meetings.
    • Works with the Conservatory’s Senior Leadership and Board Committee Chairs to coordinate meeting packet materials.
