Milwaukee Children’s Choir

Preparatory Choir (Grades 4 & 5)

Preparatory Choir builds on skills gained in Introductory Choir and school music programs while offering a fun and rewarding choral experience for students in grades 4–5. The curriculum fosters a love of singing while strengthening aural skills, vocal technique, and performance etiquette.

During hour-long rehearsals, singers study music theory and expand their musical understanding through both written work and active singing. The choir performs in at least three concerts each year, with additional community performance opportunities that may include collaborations with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Lyric Chorale (Grades 6-12)

Lyric Chorale is the premier treble ensemble for advanced singers. It offers an in-depth study of advanced music theory and the development of a unified ensemble sound. Repertoire includes challenging works performed in multiple languages and styles.

The ensemble rehearses once a week for two hours and performs regularly throughout the academic year. Performances often include collaborations with the Milwaukee Ballet, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Philharmonic, Bel Canto Chorus, and other organizations.

In addition to weekly rehearsals, singers participate in daylong workshops on select weekends and in annual tours that alternate between national and international destinations.

Progression through levels allows singers to expand their technical ability and artistic expression. Shared performances and consistent instruction create momentum that keeps students engaged and motivated.
