Background

Why did you choose to work at WCM?

I chose to work at WCM because it’s one of the few places where I can fully live out my purpose. Wisconsin Conservatory of Music allows me to teach music at a high level while using it as a force for equity and change. I’m passionate about helping students grow not just as musicians, but as people. WCM gives me the platform to do that in both traditional classrooms and underserved communities. It’s not just a job; it’s a mission that aligns with everything I stand for as an educator, artist, and human being.

Describe a musical experience or teacher that had a positive impact on you.

Being told I couldn’t play the trumpet because of my physical disability became the driving force behind my success. That challenge pushed me to defy expectations, earn a Ph.D., and build an international music career. Now, as an educator, I use that experience to inspire my students and show them that obstacles can become powerful opportunities for growth and transformation.
