2. Private lesson students in Grades 4 – 8 can add Music Theory to their semester package. Music Theory helps students better understand the music they are studying and create their own compositions while learning basic piano skills.

Early Childhood Music Classes

Early Childhood music classes are a fun way to help your child discover the joy of music making – while giving them a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Music Discoveries Classes

AGE: 4 years – 8 years
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginner
Music Discoveries classes are for children that are just getting started on their instrument. Taught in a fun setting, students begin to read music, play basic rhythm patterns, and develop listening skills.

Learn Flamenco or sample a variety of styles like blues, rock, jazz, and more.

Conservatory Prep Programs

AGE: 3 years – Grade 8
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginner
The Conservatory Prep Program gives students a comprehensive and unparalleled music education. Students receive individual instruction on their instrument, a small group class with peers, and a music theory class – where students are given the tools to better understand the music that they are creating.

Suzuki Strings

AGE: 3 years – 5th Grade+
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginner

For violin, viola, and cello.

For flute, clarinet, oboe, trumpet, French horn, saxophone, trombone, and percussion.

Ensembles

AGE: 12 years – Adult
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Intermediate – two or more years experience

Playing with others in an ensemble can be a fun way to expand your musical skill. Ensemble students are grouped with students of similar experience level and genre.

Jazz Honors Program

AGE: Grades 6 – 12
LEVEL: Advanced – by audition only

The Jazz Honors Program, part of the Conservatory’s Jazz Institute, is a comprehensive, year-round experience for high school students. The program includes small ensembles, big band, jazz theory classes, private lessons, and summer jazz camp.

Advanced Chamber Music Institute

AGE: Grades 9 – 12
LEVEL: Advanced – by audition only
Students in the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music’s Advanced Chamber Music Institute study with world-class musicians from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. This unique program provides an intensive chamber ensemble experience for the most promising young high school artists in the state.
