A surprise international concert sparks lifelong passion for music
WCM Donor Profile | Katharine Mallin
Meet Katharine Mallin, generous supporter of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music for over 20 years. Katharine was first introduced to WCM years ago when she moved from California to Wisconsin with her husband Sandy. She supported a music organization back in CA, and was looking for a way to make in impact now that she lived in Wisconsin.
She decided to attend a Prometheus Trio concert, one of WCM’s resident ensembles, and found the connection she was looking for. Katharine has been a concert regular and WCM supporter ever since.
Although Katharine herself never studied any instruments, she first fell in love with music years ago when she attended a Concertgebouw concert while on a trip in Amsterdam. Initially expecting to attend a rock concert, she was pleasantly surprised when she heard the sounds of the orchestra, sparking a lifelong passion for classical music.
Katharine served on the Board of Directors at WCM for several years and has seen firsthand how the organization has gone from a dire financial situation to the thriving organization WCM is now.
She is a strong believer in young people getting involved in music, especially the little ones in early childhood programs. WCM is grateful to have a passionate supporter and lifelong friend like Katharine.
