A phrase that certainly comes to mind when you think of Javon. While Javon was always interested in music, he didn’t have music education available to him. Now, thanks to WCM programs, he’s a thriving young musician. Blind since birth, Javon experiences the world through sound and touch, and his fascination with how instruments produce sound continues to grow.
This fall, a scholarship allowed Javon to begin one-on-one lessons with WCM teaching artist Mitch Shiner, the same teacher who brought the joy of music to Javon’s class at Gaenslen School last year. Now a freshman at Rufus King, Javon participates in the drum line, and has had the chance to make new friends through music.
